Some of you may be aware that this week is World Laboratory Animal Liberation week. For those of us working with animal models, it’s tense, surrounded with heightened security, and a time in which we probably don’t feel like talking. But Dr. Free-Ride has stepped, once more, into the breach, which a series of awesome posts on what exactly is impeding discussions on animal research right now. I highly recommend.
Sci is still sick today. She now has chicken soup and her quality of life has increased accordingly. Placebo effects are delicious.

  1. Who knows, perhaps chicken soup is really good for you, if nothing else as blog fodder for dissecting silly press releases.

  2. The juxtaposition of animal rights and chicken soup is almost too much to take. COULDN’T YOU AT LEAST EAT TOFU SOUP THIS ONE TIME?!!?!?
Ok, ok, sorry, got out of control there for a moment….

  3. Amy’s makes a pretty good tofu nochicken noodle, which is definitely sufficient on the warding away evil illnesses front (well, at least for me).
    Mmmm delicious morally-content placebo-y goodness.

  4. I have it on good authority that the proper cold remedy is delicious zinc juice.

  5. Hear! Hear! on the zinc juice. Works for me. I prefer it in the concentrated pill form, however.

  6. you *eat* noodles? oh noes! how could you?

  7. Of course, in the pill form you lose the distinctive flavor of the unadulterated juice…
